The Sports Federation Union of Catalonia’s (UFEC) Social Action Department has launched the INSERsport program. It is aimed at young people who are at risk of social exclusion and make use of third sector organizations that collaborate with UFEC. UFEC’s relationships with these organizations come together to form a kind of network. This collaboration has expanded as more sports clubs and federations that are passionate about these issues have become involved. At 2017, 10 sports federations, more than 30 third sector organizations and several municipalities were part of the program.
Healthy life project
More than 30% of young Europeans are unemployed and this figure increases in the Spanish state. In absolute figures, in Catalonia there are 143,600 young people unemployed. Social policies try to deal with this problem but are overwhelmed by the number of young people in this situation. Having a job represents a very important tool to fight against poverty and social exclusion.
Sport helps young people to acquire values such as constant improvement, mastery of emotions, patience, sacrifice, instills perseverance, works acceptance of defeat as a way to overcome, cooperation to achieve a common goal, respect and solidarity.
